Let's Hear It! Live BC Micro Grants
Music BC’s Let’s Hear It! Live BC micro grants provide assistance to BC based artists, venues, promoters, music organizers and entrepreneurs to present unique musical experiences that will engage audiences across the Lower Mainland and in communities throughout the province of BC.
Program Goals
Celebrate local music, build community and support creativity
Create inclusive, safe spaces where music can flourish focusing on the rich diversity of our province.
Grow community by promoting local music and creating connections between local musicians, promoters, BIAs and the music industry at large.
Present music in a variety of venues, across B.C.
Open opportunities for local musicians to connect with new audiences.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Any person, business or community organization from British Columbia may apply given their event will:
- Take place in British Columbia
Be held between March 1st, 2019 and August 1st, 2019
Focus on the presentation or promotion of local music in a way that supports the goals above
While applicants of all experience levels are accepted, previous experience presenting successful music events is an asset.
SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION:
Applications open January 10th, 2019 and close February 22nd, 2019 at 5:00PM (PST)
All applicants will be notified whether they are successful or not 4-6 weeks after the deadline.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- The program will attempt to fund as many events as possible. Small, creative events, that make efficient use of resources are preferred
- A priority will be placed on presenting a wide variety of styles of music that represent and engage the full diversity of the city and province (genre, gender, language, ethnicity, age, etc.)
- Applications may include existing events, where the funding will be used to extend, boost, or grow the event so that it aligns with the goals of the program.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Applications will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
JURY
The micro grant jury will be made up of a minimum of 5 members, consisting of:
- Staff & board member(s) of Music BC
- Staff member(s) of DoBC
- Established local musician/entrepreneur/professional(s)
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Sign a contract committing to their event description and date.
- Organize and coordinate all aspects of the event.
Promote their event per the guidelines outlined in the PR package provided by Music BC.
- Submit a completion report detailing final budget, size of audience, benefit to community
